Fundraising ideas
We have put together some suggestions for some novel (and hopefully fun) ways in which you can support us and the community we serve.
Thank you for visiting this page - we are incredibly grateful for your support. Fundraising doesn’t have to be anything momentous like running a marathon or climbing Everest! It can be something that you already do, but larger or joining a group of fellow members of the eczema community or people sympathetic to it and organising a car boot sale or pub quiz.
How to get started
Getting a group together is easy nowadays. Local Facebook or Next Door (a kind of local neighbourhood platform) groups are great routes to finding like-minded people. Setting up a JustGiving page is also a good first step.
Fundraising ideas
Thank you in advance for providing much needed support for people with eczema and their families. But remember, have fun doing it!
How about the London Marathon or the Great North or South Run? A bit too much? Why not use your garden or your local park to set yourself a challenge such as a 5k or 10k run or walk and video your very own event that you can share live on social media. It’s a challenge.. not a bid to become a superhero!
Most pubs love a quiz! It brings in customers and they usually have someone who hosts it for them. All you have to do is bring the people. It’s a great way of raising awareness and funds all in one go!
If you are a keen yoga or general fitness practitioner or if you have a talent for drawing, painting or craft-making you could start a class or group and encourage people who sign up to donate to Eczema UK.
This is a useful tool to fundraise online and bring what you are doing to the attention of all your followers. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/.
Do you love cinema/theatre/sport? It’s an obvious way of starting a group that can go to live events – or create a couch potato home club!
Literature/music enthusiasts can organise in-person or online book/music club meetings. You can then create ongoing challenges or quizzes that can raise funds.
Are you a vintage clothes fan? Do you collect quirky objects? Do you have artworks that you think people might enjoy bidding for? Then, why not organise an online auction or raffle. Those can very easily be held online via Facebook, eBay or have a look at the Snowball Fundraising Guide.
With so much vintage fashion items and other material available online or in charity shops, it is a simple (and environmentally sound) way of raising some cash by using a church hall or community centre to put on a show. You will make lots of new friends too.
If you enjoy baking or a cake decorating competition might be just the thing for you. It’s amazing what people will pay for a nice cake!
Whatever you decide to do, remember to send us pictures and videos of your activities so we can share them on social media and our website!
Websites like Just Giving are easy ways to get your fundraising going.
